‘Soar: a girls’ paragliding roadtrip’ premiers at Kendal Mountain Festival - Community Spotlight!
This December, we want to celebrate some of our wonderful Community Member’s 2024 successes!
And next up we're celebrating Rhian founder of Glide Gals UK - A women's Paragliding community - who have recently had their first film premiered at Kendal Mountain Festival!
What inspired you to produce ‘Soar: a girls’ paragliding roadtrip’?
"I started paragliding about 2.5 years ago, but I quickly realised that I was the only woman out flying, and it would be another year before I first managed to fly with other women.
I felt quite alone, even though the community were amazing. This loneliness led me to starting my own project to try and inspire other women into paragliding, start a conversation about diversity, and promote the amazing women in this sport.”
Why did you ask Kinga Masztalerz to feautre in the film?
“Just under a year ago, I met John Westall, or Westie to his friends, who wanted to help me. He came up with a crazy idea to invite one of the world's top female paragliders, Kinga Masztalerz, to fly with us in the UK. The aim was to connect with upcoming pilots and inspire women in the sport.
I wanted her visit to reach more people than the few she'd meet on the trip, and so I came up with the idea of producing a film.
I hope this film not only makes our women and community proud, but is a bit of inspiration for you all!"
A huge congratulations for this project and all the work that went into it! You can watch the trailer below. The full film will be available to watch online from February 2025.
