Diversity sessions at Kendal Mountain Festival

This year, the ever-popular Kendal Mountain Festival is going online to bring the outdoors speakers, films and literature sessions into your home. It’s even more exciting this year, because diversity is on the agenda.

One of the sessions on their line up is NEW VOICES – AN EXPLORATION INTO INCLUSIVITY & DIVERSITY IN ‘OUTDOOR' PRESENTED BY ADIDAS TERREX. Planned topics are experiences of black and brown people in the outdoors, barriers to joining the outdoor community and what can be done to increase diversity.

This session will take place on 19th November at 19:30 UK time and is free to register to join.

The BERGHAUS WOMEN IN ADVENTURE SESSION will celebrate the experiences of women in the outdoor community and as well as an exciting panel line up, also will include the film ‘Called to the Mountains’.

This session will take place on 22nd November at 20:00 and is £10.75 to join as a standalone session or is included in the whole festival pass.

Another exciting session is in their literature section: OPEN MOUNTAIN - SPACE AND ISOLATION. This is a panel discussion with performance prose and poetry, and will showcase those underrepresented in the outdoors. There was an open call and submissions were received from low-income and working class writers, writers from ethnic, cultural and religious communities, LGBTQ+ writers and disabled writers.

This session will take place on 28th November at 13:00 UK time and is also free to register to join.

Kendal has something for everyone and there are so many other interesting sessions to join. Some sessions are free, but you can pay for single sessions, a literature pass, a film pass or a whole festival pass to get the access that suits you and your price point.
